Burgers & Fries with a Twist

I absolutely love the Food Network!! Being a foodie I am constantly inspired by the delicious sweet and savory dishes all of the chefs create. A few years back I was watching an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives Guy Fieri was at a restaurant where they made stuffed burgers. I liked the idea so much that I decided to try it, but added my own twist to it. Here is what I came up with...

Brie burgers with lemon-basil mayo:

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef (or lean ground turkey)
4 oz. sliced brie cheese
1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Ingredients for Mayo:

1/2 c. chopped fresh basil
1 c. mayo
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
salt, to taste

Directions: ( I used a George Foreman grill):
  1. Heat grill.
  2. In a medium glass bowl mix ground meat with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form into patties.
  4. Then grill for about 8 minutes or until the center is cooked.
  5. Place 1 slice of cheese on each patty until melted, about 1 - 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the mayo:
  1. In a small to medium bowl mix mayo, basil, lemon juice, and salt with a whisk until well combined.
  2. Then cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
Garlic and Chili Powder Sweet Potato Fries:
Ingredients:

5 sweet potatoes
2 Tbsp. olive oil
3 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a freezer size bag place oil, garlic powder, chili powder, salt and pepper. Close bag and set to the side.
  3. Now, peel the potatoes and slice into 1 inch strips. Add them to the mixture in the bag and coat thoroughly.
  4. Place in a single layer on an non-greased baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes.
(Note: the fries will not get crispy but will taste really good.
This is definitely on delicious dish and I'm glad I was able to take inspiration from one of my favorite Food Network stars! I suggest pairing this with a cool brew. ENJOY!!
